We focused A LOT within the last month on our roles as wives, why they’re important, and how we can improve our execution of them. Because this is WIVES unite, we didn’t speak too much on the roles of the husbands and as a result, many may feel like there is an unbalance. But the truth is, in it’s purest form, marriage is an institution filled with give and take, order, and balance.
1 Cor 11:8-12 (NKJV) –“For man is not from woman, but woman from man. Nor was man created for the woman, but woman for the man. For this reason the woman ought to have a symbol of authority on her head, because of the angels. Nevertheless, neither is man independent of woman, nor woman independent of man, in the Lord. For as woman came from man, even so also man comes through woman; but all things are from God.
My favorite part of this scripture is the fact that man and woman are NOT independent of each other – so in essence, both husband AND wife are needed in order to function at our fullest potential. With this said, understand that you do not have to do everything on our own in order for your marriage to succeed. Your husband is dependent on you and when you fulfill your role, it helps and even propels him to accomplish and fulfill his own.
Don’t be dismayed when operating in your role, but do so with confidence that it’s making your marriage a better one even if you don’t see the fruit of it right away! Marriages are hard work and like the old saying goes “nothing good comes easy” – so keep doing what YOU can do (because we all know that we can’t control our husbands lol) and also continue to pray that God will inspire your husband to be the best husband he can be for you.
